Barbara Minghetti was born in Milan in 1964. She directs the Teatro Sociale di Como and has also held a senior position at AsLiCo (Associazione Lirica Concertistica Italiana) 2008 to 2017. A major focus of her professional activity is cultural mediation, especially in the field of opera, concert and drama, which she perceives as living elements of society. Many of her innovative cultural projects have involved the public and led to the integration of new notions and concepts of music theatre in educational curricula. She co-founded the European network reseo, which is dedicated to the promotion and further training in the field of music theatre-related pedagogical projects and methods on a European level. Barbara Minghetti is the only Italian member of the board of Opera Europa, an association of more than 150 European opera houses and festivals in 36 countries. Since 2015, she has also worked as a consultant for project development and innovation at the Teatro Regio di Parma. In 2014, she received the International Opera Award in the category ‘Accessibility’ for the „200.com“ project she developed, a series of events with active citizen participation in the context of a production of Carmina Burana. In 2011, she was awarded the ‘Lombardia che lavora’ prize by the region of Lombardy for her mediation work in the field of the arts. She is a member of numerous juries of artistic competitions in Italy and Europe.
